GEFONT Support Group Bahrain to hold volleyball tournament

On the occasion of Bahrain National Day, GEFONT Support Group Bahrain is organizing the GEFONT Second Volleyball Cup 2024 between Nepali brothers from December 13 to 17.

In the tournament expected to feature 20 teams, the winner will receive a trophy and a cash prize of Rs. 1,11,111 rupees, the runner-up will receive Rs. 51,111 rupees, and the best umpires in four other categories will also be honored, said coordinator Arjun Baraili.

All matches of the 5-day tournament will be held at the GCC Ground in Askar, Bahrain's largest labor camp, according to President Thomas Kulung.

GEFONT Support Group Bahrain announces the schedule of the GEFONT Second Volleyball Cup 2024

On the occasion of Bahrain National Day, GEFONT Support Group Bahrain has announced the schedule of the second GEFONT Volleyball Cup 2024. The schedule of the second Second Volleyball Cup 2024 organized by GEFONT Support Group Bahrain on the occasion of Bahrain National Day has been announced.

According to the schedule, the first match of the first round of matches to be held on December 16th will be between the Adivasi Janajati Mahasangh and Kirant Rai Yayokha, the second match will be between Syangja Sewa Samaj and Nepal Magar Sangh, while the third and fourth matches will be between Mona Bahrain and Baglung Sewa Samaj, and the Cleantech Company and Nas Company, respectively.

The second round of the competition, in which 16 teams participated, will be held on December 17th with 4 matches between 8 competitors. All the matches of the tournament will be held at the GCC Ground in Askar, the largest labor camp in Bahrain, as informed by President Thomas Kulung.
 

GEFONT Support Group's new logo unveiled

On the occasion of International Migrant Workers' Day, General Federation of Nepalese Trade Unions (GEFONT) has unveiled the logo of GEFONT Support Group. 

On December 18, GEFONT President Binod Shrestha made the announcement online with member groups in various countries and informed them that such a step has been taken to bring uniformity in work and identity across the world.
 

Syangja Sahyog Samaj wins the second GEFONT Volleyball Cup.

The title of the second GEFONT Volleyball Cup-2024 organized by the General Federation of Nepalese Trade Unions (GEFONT) and Bahrain Support Community on the occasion of Bahrain's National Day has been won by Syangja Sahyog Samaj. 

In the competition, in which 16 teams competed, Syangja Support Community won a trophy and a cash prize of Rs. 111,111 rupees, and the runner-up GET Company team received a trophy and a cash prize of Rs. 51,111 rupees.

The closing ceremony, which was hosted by the Third Secretary of the Nepali Embassy in Bahrain, Mr. Deep Raj Joshi, was attended by the Secretary of the Bahrain’s Trade Union (GFBTU Bahrain), President of the Nepali Immigrant Forum Bahrain Chandra Gurung, President of the Nepali Club Deepak Gurung, Senior Vice President Narendra Gale, Senior Vice President of the Indigenous Peoples’ Federation Milan Rai, President of the Nepali Peoples’ Progressive Forum Bahrain Mr. Ramu Kafle, and other guests, informed Bahrain Support Group President Thomas Kulung, thanking all those who helped make the competition a success.
 

Migrant Trade Union of Korea Submits Demand Letter

In protest against the inhumane crackdowns by the Korean government on migrant workers, which have led to injuries and even deaths, the Migrant Trade Union (MTU) of Korea held a press conference and submitted a demand letter in front of the Seoul Administrative Office on April 14 and 15.

During the press conference, the MTU demanded that the government properly identify the reasons why migrant workers lose their visas and amend the laws that force them into such situations.

The MTU also called on all migrant workers to join the union to protect and advocate for their rights.

 

Bina Pandey’s Body Brought to Nepal After Japan Road Accident

The body of Bina Pandey, who died in a road accident in Japan, was brought to Nepal on 10 August 2025 at the initiative of GEFONT.

Bina Pandey, daughter of former advisor Khem Pandey of the GEFONT affiliate CUPPEC-Nepal Kavre District, had gone to Japan for higher education in March 2025.

She was injured in a road accident on 27 June 2025 and passed away on 5 August 2025 during treatment.
