Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli's chief advisor and General Federation of Nepalese Trade Unions (GEFONT) patron Bishnu Rimal said that GEFONT has been successful in maintaining the integrity of the liberation movement of the working class without being greedy for power and prestige. Rimal, who presided over the National Representative Council meeting of the General Federation of Nepalese Trade Unions (GEFONT), expressed this opinion during his speech.
Rimal, who is also the deputy General Secretary of CPN (UML), emphasised that the council members should be careful not to lose the trust of workers by exaggerating GEFONT.
Since the current government is moving towards reforming the economy by overcoming despair, leader Rimal also urged GEFONT to help the government by introducing workers from the local level to the social security program.
Addressing the council meeting, CPN (UML) Wing Organization System Chief Bhanubhakta Dhakal praised GEFONT for being at the forefront of helping the party among the 23 wing organisations of the party. He said, 'You don't have to command GEFONT, it does what it says.'
Bhanubhakta Dhakal, head of the public organisation system, suggested to the council members that GEFONT, which has a nationwide network, should also work to create influence in the party committees at the local level.
The 27th foundation day of General Federation of Nepalese Trade Unions (GEFONT) affiliate union, Nepal Auto-mechanics Trade Union (NATU) has been celebrated on July 19th by organising various programs.
The chief guest of the event held in Kathmandu under the chairmanship of NATU President Pradip Ghimire was GEFONT President Binod Shrestha.

An agreement has been reached to organise the ticket booking counters of public transport within Kathmandu metropolis by 4th of August.
The agreement was reached among the representatives of all the 3 federations of the transport sector: Kathmandu Metropolitan City, officials of the Nepal National Transport Professionals Association and
Independent Transport- Workers’ Association of Nepal on July 16.
After Kathmandu Metropolitan Corporation published a public notice on July 11 stating to remove ticket booking counters from July 16st, stakeholders protested the decision of the metropolitan city by issuing a statement on July 15th.
General Federation of Nepalese Trade Unions (GEFONT) Vice President Ramesh Badal has been appointed as the Attorney General.
On the recommendation of Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli, President Ramchandra Paudel appointed senior advocate Badal to the said post on 17th July. On behalf of all the workers, GEFONT President Binod Shrestha congratulated Vice Chairman Badal on being appointed Attorney General and wished him success in his tenure.
Before this, he was in charge of the position of the Attorney General for about four months from April 2021 to July 2021 during the previous tenure of Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli.
