Extreme heat affects almost 70% of labourers .

The Secretary General of the United Nations, Antonio Guterres, has called to emphasise the safety of those who work and raise their families due to the effects of the rising temperature of the earth.

General Secretary Guterres gave this message when speaking at a press conference held at the UN headquarters in New York on Thursday, July 25.

He said, “The effects of the rising heat all over the world have not affected everyone equally. The poor, workers, displaced people, pregnant women, children, the elderly, and disabled people who are deprived of the facilities of living in cool weather are more affected.”

After July 21st, 2024, was measured as the hottest day on record, General Secretary Guterres asked everyone to be mindful about the workers' crisis.

According to a new report by the International Labor Organization (ILO), about 70 percent of people who do manual labour around the world are affected by extreme heat.
