A discussion program was held on August 3rd in the assembly hall of GEFONT located in Hetauda under the organisation of Whole Industry Trade Union Nepal (WHIN) Makwanpur District Coordination Committee.
The chief guest of the program Binod Shrestha, president of the General Federation of Nepalese Trade Unions (GEFONT), covered the questions raised by the participants in the discussion and shed light on the current problems and solutions in the labour sector, along with the path to be taken by GEFONT and related unions.
President Shrestha said that labour cutback, complexity of contract implementation, implementation of labour law, effective implementation of contribution-based social security are the challenges in the current labour market and there is a necessity to organise a movement in a new way to solve these problems.
WHIN Central President Anand Thami, Secretary Geeta Bhandari, GEFONT Bagmati Province President Ramhari Nepal, WHIN Central Member Binod Lamichhane and other leaders participated in the meeting hosted by Vishwanath Sanjel under the chairmanship of WHIN Makwanpur District Coordination Committee President Keshav Adhikari.
The second session of Whole Industry Trade Union Nepal (WHIN) Polymers Pvt. Ltd. held on August 3 has elected a 7-member working committee under the leadership of Krishna Raut.
In the convention held under the chief hospitality of WHIN Central President Anand Thami, the guests including Central Secretary Geeta Bhandari and Central Member Manoj Chaudhary gave their greetings, and WHIN Central Secretary Gita Bhandari informed that Manoj Ghimire hosted oath taking ceremony of the newly elected working committee.
General Federation of Nepalese Trade Unions (GEFONT)-affiliated National Beauticians’ Union of Nepal (NABUN) Makwanpur district meeting has reconstituted the district committee.
NABUN Central Secretary Sujana Joshi was the chief guest of the meeting held at Hetauda on August 3rd, in which a 9-member district committee was formed under the presidency of Karuna Adhikari.
Similarly, the Hetauda sub-metropolitan committee has also reconstituted a 13-member committee under the presidency of Samjhana Sitaula on the same day.
General Federation of Nepalese Trade Unions (GEFONT) affiliated Central Union of Painters, Plumbers, Electro and Construction Workers-Nepal (CUPPEC) has rescued 70 workers who had been stranded for about 1 month and sent them home.
CUPPEC Nepal held the rescue operation after it was reported that Rashula Ali, the contractor of Horizon Apartment located in Tokha, had not provided safe housing and ration for the workers.
A team including CUPPEC Central Vice President Yogendra Sharma, District Labor Department Member Tek Narayan Yadav and GEFONT Tokha Municipal Committee President Leela Bahadur Basnet had coordinated with the relevant parties.
A training program on publicity, oratory and climate crisis and judicial transformation awareness organised by GEFONT affiliated National Beauticians’ Union of Nepal (NABUN) was completed on the 29th of
July.
Vice President Bidur Karki and Keshabraj Bista provided training on the first day of the program.
Vice President and Head of Publication Department Jitendra Shrestha provided training on communication skills and Shramik Khabar news editor Amardhwaj Lama provided training on the art of speech.
Similarly, in the program, Prem Pradhan and Sujana Joshi provided training on the concept and effects of climate change.
At the end of the program, GEFONT President Binod Shrestha distributed certificates of participation to the training participants and wished them well by saying that this training program will help them to build unions.

Unit committee of the Independent Transport Workers’ Association of Nepal (ITWAN) held the meeting and training program on Saturday the 27th of July.
In a program held at the office of the Cooperative Board at Pulchowk Harihar Bhawan, 9 drivers were given 3,000 cash each as assistance in renewing their driver's licence.
ITWAN Central President Bhimjwala Rai, GEFONT Bagmati Province President Ramhari Nepal and ITWAN Bagmati Province President Shankar Thapa, provided training in the program.
Similarly, Rajaram Shrestha, an ordinary member of ITWAN Dhulikhel Route Bus Unit Committee, who is undergoing treatment for a brain haemorrhage, has been provided 1 lakh support by the Unit Committee.
The aid was handed over to the family of Rajaram Shrestha on July 27 in the presence of Bagmati Province President Shankar Thapa, Secretary Shiva Kumar Shrestha and other members of the committee.
