The GEFONT-affiliated UNITRAV Airport Area Committee organized a greetings exchange program on the occasion of Haritalika Teej on 17 August 2025.
At the program, GEFONT President Binod Shrestha extended best wishes for Teej, stating that Teej is not only a cultural festival but also an occasion for women to forget the burdens of year-round work and move forward with new energy.
GEFONT Vice President Sita Lama expressed her belief that the Teej festival inspires working women to demonstrate unity for achieving their rights. Deputy General Secretary Kamala Tamang, Secretary Bijaya Khadka, and other guests attended the program.
On the occasion of Haritalika Teej 2082, the GEFONT-affiliated National Beauticians’ Union Nepal (NABUN) Gandaki Province Committee and Pokhara Metropolitan Committee jointly organized a greetings exchange program on 17 August 2025.
The program, chaired by NABUN Province President Sushma Shah, was graced by GEFONT Parliamentary and Local Coordination Council Coordinator Mina Gurung as the chief guest. Also present were NABUN Central Coordinator Pampha Pahari, GEFONT National Committee Member Suman Gurung, and GEFONT Gandaki Province President Rudra Bahadur Khatri, among others.
Similarly, on 18 August 2025, the NABUN Sudurpashchim Province Committee also organized a greetings exchange program on the occasion of Haritalika Teej.
General Federation of Nepalese Trade Unions (GEFONT) affiliated, the UNITRAV organized a meeting of mountaineering workers at GEFONT Hall on 17 August 2025, and announced candidacies for the Nepal Mountaineering Association (NMA) election to be held on 24 August 2025 from UNITRAV’s side.
The candidates are: Mingmar Sherpa, Sandesh Sherpa, Jenjen Lama, and Furtenzi Sherpa.
GEFONT President Binod Shrestha, emphasizing the need to play an effective role for dignified work, fair wages, social security, and development of skilled manpower addressing the concerns of mountaineering workers, expressed GEFONT’s continuous support and extended best wishes for their victory.
GEFONT Vice President Sita Lama, appreciating professional rights and the sentiments of climbers, extended best wishes to play an important role in the Mountaineering Association on behalf of the workers.
The gathering was held under the chairmanship of UNITRAV President Suman Parajuli and conducted by General Secretary Ram Bahdur Shreshta. At the same time, all four NMA candidates expressed their commitment to workers’ rights and concerns.
On the occasion of Teej, the GEFONT-affiliated National Beauticians’ Union, Nepal (NABUN), Bagmati Province Committee, organized a program on 17 August 2025.
In the program, Hon. Bindu Shrestha, Member of GEFONT Parliamentary and Local Coordination Council and Minister for Industry, Commerce, Land, and Administration of Bagmati Province, extended Teej greetings. She highlighted that NABUN has been playing an important role in promoting professionalism in this self-employment-based sector and urged to further strengthen the organization.
NABUN Central Secretary Sujana Joshi also delivered a goodwill message, and Hon. Minister Bindu Shrestha was congratulated and honored in the event.
The program was chaired by NABUN Province President Karuna Puri, conducted by Secretary Sarita Siwakoti, and welcomed by Januki Shrestha.

The meeting of the Panauti Municipal Committee of the Nepal Health Volunteers’ Association (NEVA) held on 15 August 2025 formed a seven-member Municipal Committee under the chairmanship of Kalpana Thapa.
The meeting, held under the chief guestship of GEFONT Bagmati Province Deputy Secretary Shanti Karki, was attended by guests, including GEFONT Panauti Municipal Committee President Sunil Dhoju.
The GEFONT-affiliated Independent Transport Workers’ Association of Nepal (ITWAN) organized a gathering of load and unload workers at Teku, Kathmandu, on 16 August 2025.
The gathering held under the chief guestship of Vice President Nawaraj Ghimire, and elected an 11-member unit committee under the chairmanship of Thakur Nagarkoti, along with a 2-member advisory committee.
The event was attended by General Secretary Keshav Thapa Niru and other guests.
