GEFONT-affiliated National Beauticians’ Union, Nepal (NABUN) Kathmandu Metropolitan Committee conducted a skills enhancement training on 15 August 2025.
Inaugurating the training, GEFONT Vice President Jitendra Shrestha said that the training would be successful if it resulted in skill development, behavioral change, knowledge improvement, and capacity enhancement among participants.
The training, chaired by NABUN Metropolitan Committee President Dibisa Koirala and conducted by Finance Secretary Mina Lama, was inaugurated with remarks by NABUN Secretary Sujana Joshi on the importance of training.
Beauticians working in various parlors of Kathmandu Metropolitan City were trained by Dibisa Koirala and Mina Lama on topics such as eyelashes extension, waterproof bridal makeup, and blow-dry shading.

General Federation of Nepalese Trade Unions (GEFONT)-affiliated UNITRAV organized a social dialogue program on social security on 14 August 2025.
Chief Guest, GEFONT President Binod Shrestha, said that contribution-based social security should be mandatory in the mountaineering sector. He added that cooperation between the Nepal Mountaineering Association (NMA) and UNITRAV is important for the development and expansion of Nepal’s mountaineering sector.
President Shrestha also said that for dignified work for workers in this sector, there is no alternative to being organized under UNITRAV. He stressed the need for UNITRAV representation in the upcoming NMA election in September.
The program was chaired by UNITRAV President Suman Parajuli and conducted by General Secretary Ram Bahadur Shrestha. NMA President Kul Gurung, Senior Vice President Tika Gurung, Treasurer Sumi Lama, UNITRAV Advisory Committee Chair Sarki Tamang, and other guests also spoke.
GEFONT-affiliated, the National Beauticians’ Union, Nepal (NABUN) Siddharthanagar Municipal Committee organized a Teej gathering on 13 August 2025 on the occasion of Haritalika Teej.
The event was chaired by NABUN Municipal President Jhilli Biswal and hosted by NABUN Lumbini Province Member Pabi Khanal as the Chief Guest.
The Nepal Health Volunteers Association (NEVA), affiliated with GEFONT, drew attention to enroll health volunteers of Birendranagar Municipality, Surkhet, into the Social Security Fund.
A NEVA central member Bhimu Rijal’s team met Mayor Mohan Maya Dhakal and the Head of the Health Division on 13 August 2025 to raise the issue.
GEFONT-affiliated Nepal Street Vendors' Trade Union (NEST) Pathari Shanishchare Municipal Committee organized a special Teej program on 13 August 2025.
The program was held under the chief guestship of Central Member and Koshi Province In-charge, Sabitra Khadka.
GEFONT-affiliated CUPPEC–Nepal conducted training programs on the theme “Social Security and Climate Change: Grievance Handling” in Birtamod, Jhapa District, and Butwal, Rupandehi District.
In the program held in Butwal from 12 August 2025, GEFONT Education Department Secretary Hari Bahadur Karki provided training on climate change and its impact on the construction sector, and Khim Bahadur Karki from the Social Security Fund provided training on the Social Security Fund.
During the training, various grievances and issues raised by participants were addressed by CUPPEC Central President Shanta Basnet.
