Budhanilkantha Micro Bus Unit Committee provides health care assistance

Independent Transport- Workers’ Association of Nepal (ITWAN) Budhanilkantha Micro Bus Unit Committee is going to provide cash relief of Rs. 27000/- to the organization's member driver Som Bahadur Sunar for health care.

The decision was taken at a meeting held on December 7 under the chairmanship of Unit Committee Chairman Manoj Bahadur Raut in the presence of Provincial Chairman Comrade Shankar Thapa, Secretary Shiv Kumar Shrestha, Joint Secretary Ganesh Bahadur Shrestha and Treasurer Dak Bahadur Raut.
 

Kathmandu Metropolitan City honors Nepal Health Volunteers Association NEVA

On the occasion of the 21st National Women Community Health Volunteer Day 2024, Kathmandu Metropolitan City has honored the General Federation of Nepalese Trade Unions (GEFONT) affiliate union Nepal Health Volunteer Association (NEVA).

The honor was given at a program organized by the metropolis on the occasion of Women Community Health Volunteer Day on December 5 in recognition of their continuous selfless contribution to the health service sector of Nepal and their contribution to the mitigation of gender-based violence.
 

Bam Bahadur Thapa Magar elected as the President of CUPPEC Tanahun

The convention of GEFONT-affiliated Union CUPPEC Nepal Tanahun District held on December 5 has elected a 15-member district committee under the chairmanship of Bam Bahadur Thapa Magar.

The convention, held under the chief guestship of CUPPEC President Shanta Basnet, was attended by leaders including CPN-UML Tanahun District Secretary Pradeep Adhikari, CUPPEC Central General Secretary Rajendra Bista, Deputy General Secretary Som Bahadur Ale and Secretary Punya Prasad Upreti.
 

Tirtharaj Magar elected as the president of CUPPEC Kaski

The 11th convention of CUPPEC-Nepal Kaski district, affiliated to the General Federation of Nepalese Trade Unions (GEFONT), held on December 3, elected a 13-member committee under the chairmanship of Tirtharaj Magar.

The convention, which was held under the chief guestship of CUPPEC President Shanta Basnet was attended by leaders including GEFONT Provincial President Rudra Khatri. While wishing the convention success, Basnet said that it is necessary to build a strong organization for the rights and welfare of workers. 

He expressed his view that informal workers should be listed at the local level to effectively implement social security based on the contributions they have received from years of struggle.

A workers' rally had circled Pokhara city before the inauguration of the convention.
 

Deepak Acharya elected to CUPPEC Kageshwori

The convention of Central Union of Painters, Plumbers, Electro and Construction Workers-Nepal (CUPPEC Nepal) Kageshwori Municipality held on November 30 has elected a 13-member committee under the chairmanship of Deepak Acharya.

The convention was held under the chief guestship of CUPPEC Nepal Central Vice President Yogendra Sharma.

Ram Prasad Subedi chairs Bhaluwang unit of ITWAN

As part of the Independent Transport Workers’ Association of Nepal (ITWAN) Lumbini Province Committee expansion campaign, a gathering held in Bhaluwang of Dang district on November 30 has formed an 11-member Bhaluwang-Pyuthan-Sitganga unit committee under the chairmanship of Ram Prasad Subedi.

The gathering, which was held under the chairmanship of Suman Raj Khanal and hosted by Thakur Prasad Gaire, Vice President of ITWAN Central Committee and Lumbini Province in-charge, was attended by Deputy General Secretary Khagendra Bahadur Wali, Advisor Coordinator Dhyan Bahadur Rai and other leaders.
