NABUN is the Federation for the workers of beauty parlour and cosmetics sectors. Since such businesses have been thriving in the urban areas, the number of workers in the field is remarkably increasing. Both self-employed and wager-labours are associated in the Federation. This has been remained as one of the Federations of informal sector.
After its procedural establishment, it has been registered as 232nd Federation in the country, which is registered at Department of Labour in July 15, 2008.
The Bharatpur Metropolitan Committee of the National Beauticians’ Union Nepal (NABUN), affiliated with the General Federation of Nepalese Trade Unions (GEFONT), organized a greeting exchange program on the occasion of Haritalika Teej 2025 on 8 August 2025 in Bharatpur.
The chief guest of the program, Anju Gurung—member of the GEFONT Bagmati Province Committee and in-charge of Chitwan District—remarked that Teej is not only a cultural festival but also a symbol of women’s unity, self-respect, and cooperation. She stressed that Teej should not be confined to a fun event, but should also serve as a medium to unite for professional rights and dignity, thereby adding energy to our struggle for achieving our rights.
The program also featured congratulatory remarks from GEFONT Chitwan District Chair Pushkar Babu Tripathi and other guests.
GEFONT-affiliated, the National Beauticians Union of Nepal (NABUN) held the third convention of Bagmati Province on 5 August 2025 and elected an 11-member committee led by Karuna Puri.
Inaugurating the convention, GEFONT Vice President Jitendra Shrestha emphasized the need to refine the union movement in line with the changing world of work and highlighted the important role of unions in implementing the decisions of GEFONT’s 12th National Congress Delegate Council meeting.
In the convention, NABUN Central Coordinator Pampha Devkota Pahari, Secretary Sujana Joshi, and GEFONT Bagmati Province Women Committee Secretary Sunita Bhandari, among others, extended their best wishes for the success of the convention.
The program was also attended by GEFONT Bagmati Province Member Shanti Shrestha, NABUN Koshi Province Member Premkala Dangi, among others.

The General Federation of Nepalese Trade Unions (GEFONT)-affiliated, the National Beauticians Union of Nepal (NABUN) Bagmati Province Committee has organized a three-day capacity-building training on Microshading and Russian Hairstyling.
Inaugurating the training on 6 August 2025, GEFONT Vice President Jitendra Shrestha said that with the changing times, workers must refine and update their skills accordingly. He added that with the rapid development of technology, workers must also adapt themselves to the changing circumstances.
During the inauguration program, NABUN Secretary Sujana Joshi stated that NABUN has been regularly conducting skill enhancement training for its members. The program was chaired by Province President Karuna Puri and facilitated by Secretary Sarita Siwakoti.
The training on Microshading and Russian Hairstyling, conducted by Chandrakala Chhantyal and Soniya Rai, will run for three days.

On the occasion of Teej, the GEFONT-affiliated National Beauticians’ Union, Nepal (NABUN), Bagmati Province Committee, organized a program on 17 August 2025.
In the program, Hon. Bindu Shrestha, Member of GEFONT Parliamentary and Local Coordination Council and Minister for Industry, Commerce, Land, and Administration of Bagmati Province, extended Teej greetings. She highlighted that NABUN has been playing an important role in promoting professionalism in this self-employment-based sector and urged to further strengthen the organization.
NABUN Central Secretary Sujana Joshi also delivered a goodwill message, and Hon. Minister Bindu Shrestha was congratulated and honored in the event.
The program was chaired by NABUN Province President Karuna Puri, conducted by Secretary Sarita Siwakoti, and welcomed by Januki Shrestha.

GEFONT-affiliated National Beauticians’ Union, Nepal (NABUN) Kathmandu Metropolitan Committee conducted a skills enhancement training on 15 August 2025.
Inaugurating the training, GEFONT Vice President Jitendra Shrestha said that the training would be successful if it resulted in skill development, behavioral change, knowledge improvement, and capacity enhancement among participants.
The training, chaired by NABUN Metropolitan Committee President Dibisa Koirala and conducted by Finance Secretary Mina Lama, was inaugurated with remarks by NABUN Secretary Sujana Joshi on the importance of training.
Beauticians working in various parlors of Kathmandu Metropolitan City were trained by Dibisa Koirala and Mina Lama on topics such as eyelashes extension, waterproof bridal makeup, and blow-dry shading.
