Welcome to Workers’ News — created by workers, for workers!
In this episode:
For the House of Representatives election scheduled on March 5, 2026,
the CPN (UML) has officially announced Binod Shrestha—Central Committee Member of the party and President of the General Federation of Nepalese Trade Unions (GEFONT)—as its candidate from Kathmandu Constituency No. 10.
Binod Shrestha is the only labor-sector candidate nominated by CPN (UML) for the House of Representatives. His candidacy has generated strong enthusiasm among workers and laborers in Kathmandu-10, as well as Nepali workers living across the country and abroad.
A respected labor leader, Binod Shrestha, is widely known for his two-decade-long struggle to establish the Contribution-Based Social Security Fund, guided by the belief that farmers and workers in Nepal must also receive pensions. His contributions have earned him recognition as a leader of workers and common people.
A native of Thankot, Kathmandu, Binod Shrestha is active not only in national politics but also at the international level through the trade union movement. He is equally known for his leadership in disaster response, volunteer service, and people-centered initiatives.
GEFONT calls upon all workers, supporters, and well-wishers to actively participate in the campaign and work collectively toward the victory of workers’ representation in Parliament.
