The General Federation of Nepalese Trade Unions (GEFONT) has expressed regret over the decision of the Hyatt Regency management to terminate all workers at once under the pretext of renovation after the vandalism that occurred during the Gen-Z movement, which had forced the hotel to shut down.
GEFONT states that Hyatt Hotel management, ignoring the process of dialogue, has taken an inhumane decision to dismiss 133 permanent and around 350 contract workers. This action is a violation of the Labour Act, an attack on industrial peace, and a cruel assault on workers’ rights.
