The fourth general assembly of the Public Service International (PSI) Nepal Affiliated Committee, held on 9 November 2025 in Kathmandu, has elected a seven-member committee under the leadership of Uttam Kumar Katuwal.
Addressing the assembly as the chief guest, GEFONT President Binod Shrestha stated that the labour sector has also been affected following the protests of October 9 and 10. He said that due to the vandalism and arson carried out by anarchist groups in the name of the protest, thousands of workers have been rendered unemployed.
President Shrestha stressed that the workers’ movement can survive only if democracy is protected, and therefore, GEFONT has been standing firm in its efforts to defend democracy.
At the program, Nepal Trade Union Congress (NTUC) President Yogendra Kunwar, GEFONT-affiliated NEVA President Geeta Thing, and others extended their best wishes.
