The contribution-based social security orientation program organized by the General Federation of Nepalese Trade Unions and its affiliate National Beauticians’ Union of Nepal (NABUN), was concluded at the GEFONT Assembly Hall on December 12.
The orientation program, held under the chief guestship of GEFONT President Binod Shrestha, was chaired by NABUN Central Secretary Sujana Joshi.
Chief guest President Shrestha said that contribution-based social security is a major agenda of GEFONT and that GEFONT will play a role in getting all workers in the labor sector affiliated to the fund.
Sarita Pandey, Deputy Director of the Contribution-Based Social Security Fund, and Radhika Niraula, Assistant Director, facilitated the orientation program.
NABUN Central Secretary Sujana Joshi continued the orientation on the Social Security Fund and informed the participants about the facilities provided by the Social Security Fund that they are benefitting from. The program was moderated by Salina Lama and GEFONT Vice President Bidur Karki and Secretary Tara Nidhi Panta were present as well.

The tenth convention of the General Federation of Nepalese Trade Unions (GEFONT) affiliate union WHIN’s Bottlers Nepal Unit Committee Balaju was held on December 11 under the chief guestship of GEFONT Bagmati Pradesh President Ramhari Nepal.
The session elected an 11-member committee under the presidency of Basanta Regmi. WHIN Deputy General Secretary Arjun Chaulagain administered the oath of office and secrecy to the elected committee.
The representative council meeting of Central Union of Painters, Plumbers, Electro and Construction Workers-Nepal (CUPPEC-Nepal) Morang District Committee was held on December 11 under the chairmanship of Santa Bahadur Kumal.
The council meeting held with CUPPEC Vice President Ambir Lingden as the chief guest, was attended by Deputy General Secretary Muktinath Giri, GEFONT Koshi Province Committee Secretary Suryaprakash Khawas, Deputy Secretary and Province Women Committee Chairperson Doma Giri and other leaders.
Similarly, the seventh convention of CUPPEC Makawanpur District Gadhi Village Committee held on December 13 has elected an 11-member committee chaired by Bill Bahadur Syantan.
The fifth convention of the Independent Transport- Workers’ Association of Nepal (ITWAN) Airport Taxi Unit Committee held on December 10 has elected a 17-member committee under the chairmanship of Duryodhan Basnet.
The convention held under the chief hospitality of Central President Bhimjwala Rai honored 11 drivers who honestly returned cash and goods left in taxis to passengers.
The program, which was chaired by Dil Bahadur Shakya, was hosted by Duryodhan Basnet and the welcome address was delivered by Ram Krishna Lamichhane.
The 55th meeting of the Central Committee of the General Federation of Nepalese Trade Union (GEFONT) affiliate CUPPEC-Nepal was held on December 10 under the chairmanship of President Santa Basnet.
The meeting, held in the presence of GEFONT General Secretary Laxman Sharma was focused on the upcoming work proposal, income and expenditure details, organization strengthening and membership expansion campaign.
It was also decided in the meeting that a campaign would be effectively conducted in all seven provinces to enroll 13,000 new members in the GEFONT Rejuvenation Campaign-2081. The virtual meeting was held online using modern technology.
The seventh convention of the Independent Transport- Workers’ Association of Nepal (ITWAN) Tanker Unit Committee was held in Nepalgunj on December 7 with the main slogan "Respect for labor and decent work, implementation of social security is our goal" and was held under the chief guestship of GEFONT National Committee member Purna KC. The convention has elected a 14-member working committee under the chairmanship of Bishnu Bohara.
The inaugural session of the convention, chaired by Unit Committee Chairman Kaviram Pun, was attended by the organization's central advisor Dhyan Bahadur Rai, Deputy Secretary General and Far West Province in-charge Khagendra Bahadur Wali, Far West Province President Lalit Chand, Lumbini Province Secretary Hum Bahadur Chhetri and Lumbini Province Member and Banke District in-charge Suman Giri Shrestha Additionally, heads of relevant offices, including president of the Petroleum Dealers Association, president of the Midwest Petroleum Transportation, heads of the Nepalgunj Labor and Employment Office, Social Security Fund Nepalgunj, as well as local people's representatives and journalists were present.
