Representatives from ITUC-AP, employers, the Ministry of Labour, and SARTUC presented thematic papers. 2️⃣ 8th Contribution-Based Social Security Day GEFONT marked the 8th edition of Contribution-Based Social Security Day — first launched on November 27, 2018, by former Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli — by organizing an interaction program on the implementation status and future direction of social security. Programs were held across the provinces: Koshi (Biratnagar), Gandaki (Pokhara), Lumbini (Butwal), Karnali (Surkhet), Sudurpaschim (Kailali), and Madhesh. 3️⃣ Medical Fee Hike for Migrant Workers Despite public opposition, the Government of Nepal increased medical examination fees required for foreign employment. From November 26, 2025, all medical institutions must conduct 34 tests. Fees previously ranged from NPR 3,500–6,500, but Malaysia-bound workers were being charged NPR 9,800. 4️⃣ Gandaki’s Representatives for the CPN-UML National Congress Unanimous selection of trade union representatives for the 11th CPN-UML National Congress has been completed. In this episode: 1️⃣ ITUC Internal Communication Training Begins in Colombo The International Trade Union Confederation (ITUC) has launched a capacity-building training program on internal communication for trade unions in Colombo, Sri Lanka. Participants from 12 Asia-Pacific countries, including members from GEFONT, NTUC, and ANTUF from Nepal, are attending. The training is facilitated by Joy Hernandez, ITUC Asia-Pacific Communications & Advocacy Director. 2️⃣ Expanded Meeting of ITWAN Bagmati Province The Independent Transport Workers’ Association Nepal (ITWAN), affiliated with GEFONT, conducted its expanded meeting under the leadership of Shiva Kumar Shrestha. Nepali migrant workers in UAE, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Bahrain, and Oman continue to face contract manipulation, salary changes, and irregular wage payments. 2️⃣ CUPPEC-Nepal District Meetings (Kathmandu & Lalitpur) GEFONT-affiliated CUPPEC-Nepal held district meetings on November 23 & 24.
