1️⃣ International Training of Trainers (TOT) in India
Women in Informal Employment: Globalizing and Organizing (WIEGO) has launched a 5-day TOT in Ahmedabad, India, starting September 1, 2025.
Trade union activists from Nepal, India, Sri Lanka, Cambodia, Malaysia, Indonesia, and the Philippines are participating.
From Nepal:
➡️ Hira K.C. – Home Workers’ Trade Union Nepal (HUN)
➡️ Navaraj Pandit & Sita Rijal – Nepal Street Vendors’ Trade Union (NEST)
2️⃣ Tea Workers’ Wage Increase in Nepal
On September 1, 2025, the Nepal Tea Producers’ Association and trade unions agreed to raise wages for tea workers.
➡️ New Daily Wage: Rs. 565 (earlier Rs. 500)
➡️ New Monthly Wage: Rs. 15,699 (earlier Rs. 13,893)
This increase includes Rs. 39 in basic salary and Rs. 26 in dearness allowance daily.
Monthly increase: Rs. 1,162 in basic salary and Rs. 644 in dearness allowance.
According to Santa Kumar Rai, President of the Tea-Coffee Workers’ Union Nepal (TCWUN), the agreement will be published in the Nepal Gazette.
3️⃣ CUPPEC-Nepal Kailali Convention
The GEFONT-affiliated CUPPEC-Nepal Kailali District Committee decided on August 31, 2025, to hold its 8th District Convention by December 30, 2025.
