The General Federation of Nepalese Trade Unions (GEFONT) has awarded Rs. 130,000 as compensation to Rita Rana Magar of Airawati Rural Municipality-7, Pyuthan from the agent who scammed her in the matter of foreign employment.
The local agent Om Prakash Singh had taken the victim to Kuwait on a visit visa 2 months prior by exploiting the greed of free visa and free ticket.
She filed a complaint against the agent after the agent demanded a large sum of money to return the victim, who fell ill after regular 18-hour work as a domestic worker, to Nepal.
Janak B.K. from GEFONT Migrant Desk has informed Shramik Khabar that an amount equal to 1 month's salary and flight ticket has been provided at the initiative of GEFONT.
