Independent Transport Workers’ Association of Nepal assists its members .

Unit committee of the Independent Transport Workers’ Association of Nepal (ITWAN) held the meeting and training program on Saturday the 27th of July.

In a program held at the office of the Cooperative Board at Pulchowk Harihar Bhawan, 9 drivers were given 3,000 cash each as assistance in renewing their driver's licence.

ITWAN Central President Bhimjwala Rai, GEFONT Bagmati Province President Ramhari Nepal and ITWAN Bagmati Province President Shankar Thapa, provided training in the program.

Similarly, Rajaram Shrestha, an ordinary member of ITWAN Dhulikhel Route Bus Unit Committee, who is undergoing treatment for a brain haemorrhage, has been provided 1 lakh support by the Unit Committee.

The aid was handed over to the family of Rajaram Shrestha on July 27 in the presence of Bagmati Province President Shankar Thapa, Secretary Shiva Kumar Shrestha and other members of the committee.

From Nepal: ➡️ Hira K.C. – Home Workers’ Trade Union Nepal (HUN) ➡️ Navaraj Pandit & Sita Rijal – Nepal Street Vendors’ Trade Union (NEST) 2️⃣ Tea Workers’ Wage Increase in Nepal On September 1, 2025, the Nepal Tea Producers’ Association and trade unions agreed to raise wages for tea workers. ➡️ New Daily Wage: Rs. 565 (earlier Rs. 500) ➡️ New Monthly Wage: Rs. 15,699 (earlier Rs. 13,893) This increase includes Rs. 39 in basic salary and Rs. 26 in dearness allowance daily. Monthly increase: Rs. 1,162 in basic salary and Rs. 644 in dearness allowance. The achievement came after union intervention by STUN, with an agreement reached on August 24 and full benefits received on August 30, 2025. 3️⃣ Transport Workers Raise Concerns ITWAN Kalanki Unit drew attention to microbus and tempo fuel problems at the Traffic Police Office, Singha Durbar. Drivers are fined for going off-route to refuel due to lack of gas depots on regular routes. 4️⃣ Health Volunteers’ Meeting NEVA held a meeting in Simta Rural Municipality, Surkhet, chaired by Pavitra Thapa with participation from Central Member Bhimu Rijal. 5️⃣ Dang District ITWAN Meeting ITWAN Dang District Committee held its first meeting after the fourth convention.
