General Federation of Nepalese Trade Unions (GEFONT) Affiliate Union Sports Union Nepal (SUN) gathering held on 6th of July at GEFONT Assembly Hall Putalisadak has formed an 11 member valley committee under the presidency of Biraj Rana.
GEFONT Executive Chairman Jitendra Shrestha, the chief guest of the gathering held under the chairmanship of General Federation of Nepalese Trade Unions GEFONT Vice President and Sports Union Nepal President Sita Lama, stated the need for a strong union among stakeholders in order to solve the problems of the sports sector, to guarantee social security based on self-esteem and contributions of the players, for the prosperity of the country through sports and the prosperity of the lives of the players in the sports sector.
He also stated that GEFONT recruited Sports Union Nepal 3 years ago for the rights of the players.
In the gathering, GEFONT General Secretary Laxman Sharma said that GEFONT has started a campaign to organise the active sports workers who were not able to be reached by the labour movement in Nepal. He also expressed GEFONT’s resolution to help the sports workers to remove corruption and anomalies at every step.
Vice President of Sports Union Nepal Yuvraj Jirel initiated and General Secretary Sudip Sharma moderated the event whereas GEFONT Secretary Krishna K.C shed light on the necessity of trade union formation in the sports sector.
Binod Shrestha, president of GEFONT, congratulated and expressed best wishes to the committee elected by the gathering.
