GEFONT Valley level gathering concludes

Kathmandu, A gathering  of leaders of various municipal committees of the Kathmandu Valley has been organized by the GEFONT, Bagmati province Committee on 19 December in GEFONT school  Anamnagar.

Speaking at the gathering, GEFONT Vice President Cde. Jitendra Shrestha recalled that efforts have been made to build a pro-workers state by overcoming many ups and downs during the 31 years of GEFONT's establishment.


 
He further said that the organization should be expanded for further achievements by protecting the achievements made to achieve the goal of socialism.

Vice President Shrestha said that every GEFONT member  should know the policies and programs passed by the 7th National congress  of GEFONT and highlighted the 10 points  programs passed by the congress.

He said that GEFONT has formed a three-tier structure according to the structure of the state after the 7th National Congress.  He further  stressed on the need for active municipal committees at the local level to strengthen GEFONT.

 

GEFONT Bagmati province committee President Cde. Ram Hari Nepal presided the meeting and informed that every municipal  Committee meeting should be held within the month to plan each municipality & Committee should have information about all industries and workers within their area.

He has also  requested to continue the work of the municipality Committee in the midst of the epidemic of COVID 19.

Likewise, GEFONT National Committee Member Cde. Smriti Lama said that GEFONT has been making efforts to implement a contribution-based social security program since the beginning. She has highlighted the second amendment of the Social Security Scheme Operating Procedure for informal and self-employment sector.

The gathering was  attended by the presidents  and secretaries of the GEFONT Municipal  Committees of Lalitpur, Bhaktapur and Kathmandu districts.
