GEFONT Marks International Workers Day

GEFONT has marked 128th  International Workers Day with a slogan "Prosperity through the implementation of Constitution, Let the worker be represented in the local level election" in Kathmandu. Rally with big mass of workers from various GEFONT affiliates move around the city and converged to mass gathering in Putalisadak.

Speaking in the Mass gathering, GEFONT Delegates Council Chief Mukunda Neupane said that " Nepal Government is on wrong way by interfering Judiciary and this is directed by some other forces." Therefore, he requested everyone to be alert. He emphasized that CPN UML is only party to listen the workers voice and urged everyone for support to make CPN UML victory in local election.

Likewise, GEFONT President Bishnu Rimal extended May Day greetings to all workers. He said "Government interference in the judiciary is immoral, which is against the democratic role. So, he urged the Government to withdraw an impeachment motion against the chief justice immediately." President Rimal aware everyone that the Government fraud activities has revealed that fight within democracy has not ended and still there is  risk of unpleasant situation,  if workers will  not be united against it .

President Rimal hoped that pending Labour and Social Security Bills together will be adopted by the Parliament soon. He further informed that CPN UML is with working class but expressed doubt about other political parties. He added "We are demanding to establish system for workers social security, as we workers have been contributing amount by ourselves."

He condemned the Industrial Enterprise Act, adopted by the Parliament that has snatched the workers rights. He assured that GEFONT do not treat Industrialist or Entrepreneurs as enemy and requested FNCCI for action against their wrong move. He stresed  that GEFONT members are responsible and way forward for Socialism.

Speaking in the programme, Binda Pandey- Member of GEFONT Governing Council said that " Election is utmost to institutionalise the rights of workers and Trade Union should intervene the Government to implement the workers issues like social security, workers registration etc ."

Conveying solidarity for the TU movement, WSM General Secretary Andre Kiekens expressed gratitude to attend the GEFONT May Day programme. He also extended good wishes to all workers for continue struggle to secure their rights.

Likewise, GEFONT Province No. 3 Coordinator Janak Chaudhary highlighted about the GEFONT Campaign to pressure for adoption of Labour Law as well as to secure workers representation in local level election. He also presented list of GEFONT members as the candidates in local level election.
