Kathmandu, GEFONT province no 5 has objection to Employers of Parasi, Butwal and Siddharthanagar of the province-5 have sent a memorandum to the Prime Minister stating that they cannot implement the contribution based social security scheme. GEFONT Province No 5 President Cde. Hari Karki expressed an objection by issuing press release.
Last November, Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has launched a contribution based social security scheme. In the announcement, representatives of employers and trade unions also expressed their commitment & solidarity to implement the program & it was decided to implement social security program from 17 July 2019 onwards. But according to this step of sending memorandum to Prime Minister through the local administration that the employers couldn't implement the scheme has drawn serious attention of GEFONT press release further reads.
Press communiqué further reads, According to the present constitution of Nepal, workers have Social Security rights based on that Government has already passed the social security fund Act-2075 & procedure 2075. In this context such action by employers is against the constitution.
Recalling the participation of representatives of Employers in drafting process of the Social Security Act, Rules and Procedure, GEFONT has warned that if is not implemented, the workers will be forced to take strong action.
