Workers from Press printing industry or offset printing press in Surkhet district do not get the minimum wage. Two days "Mapping workshop" organised by Independent Press Workers Union of Nepal (IPWUN), under the support of Global Union Federation- Union Network International (UNI), has identified that the minimum wage set by the government has not implemented in press printing industries or offset printing press in Surkhet yet.
Based on the questionnaire prepared for Workshop,the press printing industries or offset printing press have not followed the basic standard like Appointment letter, Provident Fund, Bonus, Allowances facilities, Maternity leave.
During the workshop,Cde. Bidur karki and Cde. Mahendra Lal Shrestha facilitated the sessions on Basic Trade Union Rights, Labour Act, Worker Education, Leadership development and Social security .
IPWUN is the first authorised union for workers working in printing sector. The Union had played significant role in the People’s movement of 1990. The workers from printing and publishing industry related sectors like printing press, screen printing, computer desktop publishing, xerography, graphic designing, newspaper distribution and similar sectors are members of the Union. IPWUN is affiliated to Global Union Federation- Union Network International (UNI) at international level.
